Magneto Testing

You know the drill, you clean up some ancient old XLCH mag, maybe put a new coil and cap on it, install it in the bike, bolt the carb on. Then kick until your right knee cap is blown out and the bike only manages a couple of farts. Then, of course, you have to take the carb off, to take the mag off, you recheck the timing and play with the points, then reinstall the mag and the carb and once again kick until your knee cap is blown out. It doesn't have to be that way. I now have the equipment to spin a Sportster vertical mag in a testing fixture and measure the speed at which it begins to produce a spark (coming in speed.) Furthermore, I fire both plugs simultaneously in a clear Plexiglas pressurized vessel to observe the quality of the spark being produced. This testing apparatus is designed to mimic the conditions the plugs encounter during the kick-starting process. Save yourself the aggravation. The base testing procedure is free, a rebuild is $200.00 labor plus parts. Your mag will be tested before and after repair.
